Taster Session |
Let us introduce you to the world of kayaking or canoeing in a fun and safe environment. Learn how to paddle your craft in all directions, basic safety techniques and how and where to go should you wish to do it again. All equipment provided. Pre-reqs: None! Duration: 2 hours |
Flat Water Skills |
A day to hone your paddling on flat water, whether you have previous experience or not. Learn how to stay upright while manoeuvring your kayak or canoe with control. We’ll go through the everything you need to know to stay safe on the water, including equipment choice and basic safety and rescue skills. You’ll leave having improved your skills and with all the information you need to progress further into paddling. Can include BCU/UKCC 1 star assessment on request. Pre-reqs: None Duration: 1 day |
Introduction to White Water |
Everyone can remember their first time on white water - it’s an unforgettable day of excitement and achievement. Let us take the nerves away and replace them with the knowledge and skills you need to venture onto white water for the first time. Pre-reqs: Some experience of kayaking on flatwater. No roll required. Duration: 1 day |
BCU UKCC 1 star |
The 1 star certificate shows a basic level of craft control on flat water with an understanding of the fundamental safety issues involved. See the BCU Syllabus for more info. Pre-reqs: None! Duration: 1 day |
BCU UKCC 2 star |
The 2 star test takes place using both an open canoe and a kayak, showing good level of craft control on flat water with a wide knowledge base on which to develop your future paddling. See the BCU Syllabus for more info. Pre-reqs: As per BCU syllabus Duration: 1 day |
BCU UKCC 3 Star White Water : Training |
This two day course will take you though everything you need to prepare for your 3 Star White Water, progressing your personal skills, group awareness and safety skills. The award shows that you are a competent grade 2 kayaker, able to paddle such waters as part of a peer-group of similar ability with a good understanding of potential hazards and how to deal with them. You will leave the course with an action plan to progress your paddling further and moving towards a successful assessment. Pre-reqs: Some experience of grade 2 white water. Duration: 2 days |

With the option of a straight 1 day assessment or a combined 2-day training and assessment, you can be confident that we’ll take the time to look at your personal skills, group awareness and safety skills, with our experienced coaches giving you guidance on any weak areas.
